From Federal highway (US1), after you cross over Copans Road, go 8/10ths of a mile. At N.E. 12th Street, go left (east).

At N.E. 12 Street in Pompano Beach, FL, head east for ½ mile. You will have to go through a roundabout. Take a left on NE 28th Avenue and you will come to Harbor’s Edge Park. This is a nice little park right on the Intercostal Waterway. Bring the dog and don’t forget to take the 1/3 mile walking path all the way to the water. There’s a nice little beach there to watch passing boats. If you’re visiting in the summertime, you may want some bug repellent. Mosquitos are usually worse around dusk.

This letter box will be extra fun for a true adventurer. The directions below will take you to the location of the treasure chest. At the park, you will be given additional directions to find two additional clues that will lead you to the gold.

After parking your car, head east toward the 1/3 mile jogging track (Gulf Stream). Take the trail south (Right) towards the islands of intense tropical foliage. When you reach the first fork in the Gulfstream, continue going straight for about 14 kid steps (each step is about 18 inches). In the first tropical island, look to your right and you will see a small path through the snake grass (tall, flat plants that look like grass that surrounds the islands). Walk 8 kid steps to the first tree. Walk around to the other side of the tree and look NEXT to the tree under the brush and shrubbery. You may have to dig deep, but you will find Clue #1 in a small plastic container. Open the container and take out one of the printed instructions for Clue #1. Reseal the container and please hide it well because other pirates may be watching!
