The Tree

You will begin at Waverly Oaks Park in Belmont on Trapelo Road. The starting point will be at the canopy which covers the picnic tables at the playground.

• Facing the park/sprinklers, walk towards the
3 “glaciers” jetting out to your right.
• Stand on the “stage” in front of the 3 “glaciers”,
facing your “audience”.
• Look to your left – you will see a path.
• Follow the path to the 1st bridge. Stop and enjoy
the sound of the babbling brook.
• Continue on the path.
• You will come to a fork in the path; bear left.
• Almost immediately you come to a “Healthy Trail”
sign.
• From this point walk 130 steps further along the
path (or about 120 adult steps).
• You will come to a rocky path on your right.
• Follow the path up the hill. On the top is a 4 way
intersection.
• Continue straight on down the other side of the
hill.
• Choose the path at the bottom that goes to the left
of the tree with the “horseshoe” hanging off the
limb.
• Cross the rocky creek to the ball field.
• Walk to home plate.
• Reenter the woods through the opening beyond second
base.
• Go left of the lone oak tree to the picnic table.
• At the picnic table, go left up the small hill.
• Looking down the other side you will see a “v”
tree. Walk to it.
• At the “v” tree, you will see the grandest tree
slightly to your right.
• Walk 30 steps to the grand tree (or about 25 adult
steps).
• You will find the box in the shrubs on its side
under some rocks.

Please re-hide the box well. Thank you for looking!
