The skis used for telemarking, also known as "free heel skiing", have a binding that only connects the boot to the ski at the toes, just as in cross-country skiing. The technique is named after the Telemark region of Norway and is the preferred technique of ski touring in rolling terrain. A great place to try it is at Telluride Ski Resort. It is also great for hiking in the summer, when it will be easier to find this minibox on the Bear Creek Trail.

Directions:
From Durango, go west on Hwy 160 to Mancos, then Turn right onto Hwy 184 towards Dolores. Turn right onto Hwy 145 and follow it into Telluride. Turn right on Pine Street and park near its end at San Juan Street and the trail head for Bear Creek Trail.

Clues:
Hike the Bear Creek Trail, staying right at junctions, until you get to a huge house-size rock several hundred yards below Bear Creek Falls. Walk around the left side of the rock to a pine tree, then a few more steps to another pine tree. The minibox is hanging on the back side from a branch 5 feet high. The box is a pill container and is permanently attached to the tree, so remove the top by pushing down while turning counter-clockwise. When replacing the top, make sure to screw it on all the way and check to make sure it doesn't come off if you lift up on it. After stamping in, continue up the trail to the base of the falls.
