Terrain Difficulty: Easy (slight slope, .5 mile RT)
Recommended Ink: brown & silver

Silverton is known as the "Treasure Chest of the San Juans" because of its rich mining history and beautiful San Juan mountains. Another jewel in the area is Andrews Lake, gateway to the Weminuche Wilderness and home of this letterbox.
Directions:
From Silverton, go south on Hwy 550 for about 7 miles, then Turn left onto CR 29 for about 1/2 mile to the parking area for Andrews Lake.
Clues:
Walk along the east side of the lake, crossing a bridge and going by a small pier. Continue a little further, then go right and uphill on a dirt trail that enters the Weminuche Wilderness. Continue on the trail as it bends south, then makes a U turn to the north. At this turn, leave the main trail and continue south on a smaller dirt path for 27 steps. Look left for a rotting tree laying near the path and going uphill to the right for about 20 steps. The letterbox is under the stump end covered by sticks. Please replace as described. The box contains some treasure for the first several finders.
