Asher Wright was Nathan Hale’s boyhood companion, and his camp orderly during the Revolutionary War. Asher was in New York when Nathan Hale was hanged. He stayed in Washington’s army after Nathan’s death and fought in the battle of Trenton. Asher served an extra 6 weeks beyond his enlistment, was discharged in New Jersey and walked home to Coventry. There he lived alone next door to the Hales suffering from what we now call post traumatic stress syndrome for 68 years after Nathan was hanged.
