The Old Westfield Cemetery is Middletown has some really great carvings from the 18th century. You can find the cemetery on Boardman Lane which is off Middle St. just north of I91 exit 20. Going down Boardman La from Middle St. the cemetery will be on your left behind a white picket fence just before a small bridge. The cemetery itself is back off the road but there is a stretch of grass to get you to it.

When you get to the stones check out these: Mrs. Mindwell, consort to Aaron Norton with her pearls. Don't trip over her foot. Then Mrs. Mercy wife of Elija Wilcox with her “pig tails”, above her David Higbe’s large stone with the ornate carving.

When you’re done checking out the great carving, go to what used to be a big cedar tree. The top has been cut off but the bottom is pretty integrated with a couple of stones so hopefully it will stay. Look in the split at the bottom. Be careful of the poison ivy. Make sure you get the box covered with the stones when you’re done. I found a geocache in with the box. Thought this was against the "rules" but there seems to be room for both as long as they're well placed and well covered.

Here are some other interesting things to look for.
BRADLEY E Bartlett ae 6 wks.
Josiah Boardman - his consort is missing an R.
The unique garden next door.
