I have been having such fun, the last few months, finding letterboxes. And now that I have found about 100 boxes, I figured it was time to give back to the community and plant my own. This is my first, so I hope my directions are clear.

During my youth, I often liked to doodle during the more tedious hours of schooling. One of my favorite doodles was a little birdy. I will admit that this birdy is not my own invention. If you can identify the source of this little doodle, you will have some insight on what else I wasted a good deal of my youth on.

Your starting spot is on Wasatch Blvd. between Big and Little Cottonwood canyons. It's right across the street from the entrance to La Caille restaurant. If you are coming from the direction of Big Cottonwood canyon, be sure and look for the sign for La Caille and take the right hand turn to stay on Wasatch Blvd. Pull into the dirt lot on the west side of the street. You should see a big sign urging you to protect your drinking water. Presumably, that means no dogs. Sorry, pooches.

Take the trail on the far left, past the "Bikes Yield to Pedestrians" sign. Walk on up the trail until you get to a sign on your right with two hikers and, a arrow above pointing to the left. From the sign, walk forward 80 steps and look to your left. Up hill about 35 steps you should see a large white boulder. It's big enough to hide behind and there is a obtuse peak at the top left of center. OK, this is my first letterbox and 80 is a lot of steps. So if you don't see the boulder to your left, continue down the trail until you get to a post with two trail signs on it. Now walk back about 40 steps and look to your right. It will be the first large boulder you see on your right. Now walk up the hill and go behind the boulder. On the right, or east side of the boulder you will see four rocks stacked along the side. Under the top rock is the birdy.

You can hide behind the big white boulder and do your stamping. And don't complain to me if you see people walking thier dogs along the trail. I wouldn't risk it. The fines can be pretty steep.
