This letterbox is located at Carneys Restaurant in Hollywood, CA, 8351 W. Sunset Blvd. Carneys is a train car right on the famous Sunset Strip. This Los Angeles landmark is a great place to enjoy a Carney Hot Dog or Burger! Inside the train car, one can read the history of how this restaurant came to be… when it was towed up Sunset Blvd. to become a fun eatery. Also, after having lunch at Carneys, one can visit many famous places along the Sunset Strip (like The Comedy Store, The House of Blues across the street, or The Standard Hotel, which has a super fun lobby!

To access the letterbox, you will need to go outside where there are picnic tables… probably best for you to eat there. On the side of the train car facing Sunset Blvd. (where the tables are), you will see the words “Carneys Express Limited”. Between the “e” and “d” in the word “Limited”, look under the train at the wheels. You will see one of the train wheels marked “51/2 x 10 Hyatt”. You will need to reach around behind, and a little above this writing… the letterbox is attached there (by magnets), (not ON the wheel, in front of it, but behind the iron with the “5 1/2 x 10 Hyatt” writing. BE SURE TO PLACE IT BACK EXACTLY AS YOU FOUND IT. A good idea is to pretend to be studying the train wheels and talking about how you think they worked etc, as you stoop down to get the box. ACT LIKE TOURISTS! Maybe even wear a touristy Hawaiian shirt and sun hat!

Good luck and enjoy!
