In 1899, John E. Hubbard gave the City of Montpelier a gift of 125 acres, since then several other parcels have been added to the park. Hubbard Park now has 185 acres and has roughly 7 miles of hiking and skiing trails, numerous picnic areas, a soccer and ball field, a small pond, a sledding hill, and a 54 foot observation tower. For more information on this wonderful capital city wonder feel free to visit http://www.montpelier-vt.org/parks/hubbard.cfm

Our family dog Rocky was always happy when we visited this park. Hence the name for this letterbox. When we visit we come to Hubbard Park to romp and play! Great park and trails for a family day or short outing. Plenty of places to picnic.

To find this letterbox drive through the park gate and following the road bearing right at the fork. You will soon come to a grassy small field surrounded by 28 large rocks where you can park. Park here and look to the right of said field. You will see a picnic table and man made log chairs. Walking to this spot you will see trail signs and a trail on your right. Take this trail. You will walk down and back up again. At the top of the small incline take 20 steps forward and look to your left. (There should be a large tall tree on your right.)

Walking into the woods it almost looks like this may be a trail also but I am unsure if it is. Its mostly just worn ground. You should be starring right at a large tree in the woods. Behind this tree you will see two fallen trees covered in moss in a shape of the letter "V" The right log is the one you want. On the right hand side of this log, "Rocky's Always Happy" is tucked under/in it covered by a rock, bark and moss. Please stamp in and enjoy the lovely trails this park has to offer.
