A flat but long walk, about 3 and a half miles all the way around. You can park one of two places. One is off route 5 and you turn up Mountain Park Access Rd. where the old Mountain park or Mt.Tom ski area used to be. Park at the fence right after crossing over route 91 Walk up the reservoir access road on your left till it meets the loop and walk right. Continue the length of the reservoir and into the woods around the turn that brings you back the opposite side. Walk until the reservoir re-appears on your left.#1 Stop and face away from the water. You will see a three foot ledge rock stuck into the bank. Just to the right of that is a big oak tree on top of the bank. The Swallow box is behind the tree under some rocks and bark. Stamp and rehide it carefully. You can also walk down the access road from route 141 coming from Holyoke to Easthampton. The access road is a little after the Wyckoff Country Club on the same side.Park on the opposite side of the road and walk down the access road to the loop and turn left. Follow the road till you see the reservoir start to disappear on your right. Then follow the instructions after the #1 above. The Swallows skim the surface of the reservoir all summer long catching bugs and are amazing to watch. Enjoy the walk all the way around the reservoir. We are trying to recycle some of our plastic containers for letterboxes. This one is a Marshmallow jar.
