AS OF 11/12/11 THERE ARE MANY TREES DOWN IN THIS AREA DUE TO STORM ALFRED . YOU CAN STILL FIND THE BOX BUT NEED TO WALK AROUND DOWNED TREES.

This box was carved by Snavefree from South Carolina for the Great AtlasQuest Letterboxing Exchange 09. I also carved a stamp and it was planted in SouthCarolina.

From Southeast School on Rte 89 .
From the parking lot along side the left side of the school ( on Rte 89 ) head East along the edge of the woods to the start of the trail marked by a yellow metal gate. Continue on the trail passing a large pine on the left, it has many signs and a blue arrow on it. Continue on the trail crossing a dike (a raised walkway) that does not block water. At the end of the walkway you will start to go uphill. Keep going .

You will come to another dike (walkway). There is a lone wooden post on the right side of the dike with no markings on it. . Soon you will spot a wooden birdhouse on the left. Take the trail on the left . ( It is just before the birdhouse).

Follow the trail ahead to where this trail ends into another wider trail . This is the intersection of the yellow and a unmarked trail . Go straight on the unmarked trail .

Shortly you will intersect with another trail at a "Y". Go left.

Continue on to a double blue blazed tree on the right side of the trail . Go right . You will be heading uphill.

When you reach the top . Stop at a large Pine Tree on your right .( the last large pine tree before making a steep descent) Spy a standing dead tree to the left side of the trail.( as of November 19 teh dead tree has now fallen .) Take 9 steps to the back of this dead tree .The box is buried on the backside of the fallen tree near the root end . .

You can turn around and walk back the way you came or coninue on this trail . WE headed straight with the water on our right , turning once to walk closer to the water .
The trail did eventually come out to the ball fields behind the school . The blue blazes were in frequent .
