This is my first letterbox. I decided to share one of my favorite views of our farm. The Stamp is of our old barn.
Walker Farms is in front of Whortleberry Hill and covers about 400 acres in West Brookfield, New Braintree and North Brookfield. It is Circa 1763.
Our family has lived here since 1957.
From New Braintee, it's the end of the field on your right that you see as you pass into West Brookfield.
From West Brookfield: drive out New Braintree Road as if going to the State Police Academy or New Braintree Center. As you pass all the new houses, you start to enter our land. The last houses in West Brookfield on the left are a log cabin / antique brown house combo with fields and trees across and forest after them. After the forested land a field opens out for you on the left and the last house in West Brookfield on the right appears - it's a cute little white one. Get ready to pull over as it's just after this white house. If you hit the New Braintree town line you went too far. Just after the white house is a curve, pull over to your left.
There's a little lane between stone walls and maple trees you can park in (if there are no tractors in it!). Or pull over here by the side of the road. Go to the stone wall of the next field - it's right there. It's the field that goes all the way over to the farmhouse and not the one that goes toward the curve. There's a culvert that goes down into it by one of those big trees (maple). walk along the stone wall to the next hickory tree with little white maples in front of it. The box is in the stone wall in front of the trees.
Please stop and look at the hill and the farm across the field and the fields themselves. Isn't it a lovely view? My youngest daughter likes to say "I live in place where people pull over to look at my yard" and they do - it's just a gorgeous view and i thought I'd share it!
