Compass and trails map required. Approx. 1 mile hike in one way, most up hill, but not too steep. Good clear wide trail most of the way.
Drive to the western end of route 302 in Bethel to the intersection of RT 53. During sat. summer evenings, its the locally well known watering hole for 1950's classic car cruising night out at the "Sycamore drive in dinner".
from this point, drive south on RT 53 for 2.2 miles and get off the highway and park in the church parking lot or at Meg's flower farm (summer 2003)
Find a post / stake marked #5 "buried fibre optic cable " between utility poles 702 and 703. and take a magnetic bearing of 305
Just above the tree line , you will spot a rock face, binoculars helpful. Your destination / target is to get on top of this rock face,
Its 0.43 miles distant, however , its not possible to get there from here in a straight line! Do not attempt to climb straight up!
An essential map must be downloaded from CTPATH.ORG (in color) and other information about this area is also available.
Find the dead end "cul de sac" near a well known bicycle manufactures offices to park. A few milk bottle caps , orange / purple are nailed to trees allong the way. Use faint blue blazed trail, green on map.Dont let papa burst a blood vessel.
Locate fire pit at top of this rock outcropping and enjoy the view. You now should be 0.43 miles from the starting point and can see it on a bearing of 130 magnetic.
Caution, we did encounter bees/wasps on the approach , close to this site.
Cache is an army 0.5 cal amo box, 6/12/7 inches...olive drab , hidden under/between hand placed rocks on second highest point behind fire pit , 332 degrees bearing, up on top of large stone mound, 50 or so feet away.
This is a joint letterbox/geocache site..geocachers swap trinkets, perhaps also stamp there log books as well.
Info about geocaching is provided inside box. Please rehide box so its not easy to spot.
