The cemetery is open year round, but from November 1st to April 1st the gates are closed from 4pm to 7am.

The Lawrenceville City cemetery is situated between US Route 50 and Business Route 50 (State St) and just west of IL Route 1 (15th St). Beginning at the intersection of State St and 15th St head north on 15th St (IL Route 1). Just before you get to the Embarras River bridge (pronounced Ambraw) there will be an umarked paved road to your left. Turn here (west) and there should be a wooden sign immediately to your left that says Lawrenceville Nature Study Area. Straight ahead down the paved road there is an iron arch over the road that says Lawrenceville Cemetery. Enter here and go straight until you come to a T road. Turn right (north) and follow the road to the 1919 Section. Take the road between Gore and Darnold. At the next intersection,(straight ahead should be Section C) make a right between Section D and Section 1919. Directly in front of you, but down the road a bit, there is a very large and very old tree. Drive to the tree and park near it where you can. On the same grassy area that the tree is on there will be a few headstones. Look for the tree stump in this area and walk to it. Head north from the stump and walk about 30 steps towards the woods and stop. Look to the right (east) and take approximately 10 steps down the narrow path that is between two trees and stop. Turn around and look to the right. The letterbox is between the tree that is leaning back towards the cemetery and the old log on the ground. Please remember to cover the box with more leaves and things as needed when you are done.

Thanks, Good Luck and Happy Hunting!!
