Searching for these boxes may not be appropriate for young children due to loose rocks and uneven terrain in several places.

Make your way to Cathedral Ledge, in Echo Lake State Park, located just outside of North Conway Village. Cathedral Ledge is a magnificent landmark in Mount Washington Valley and a premier rock climbing destination in New England. Be sure to plan on spending some time watching the rock climbers and enjoying the valley view from the top of the ledge. Don't forget to bring your binoculars and a picnic lunch.

Cathedral Ledge is an extremely popular area. Therefore, please be discreet when searching for and stamping-in to these boxes. Especially Part 1, which is located within sight of the road.

CLUES
Be sure to leave an area measuring approximately 3" X 3" in your journal to accommodate the whole image. The stamps contained in these 3 boxes form one larger image. Drawing a pencil line at the bottom of this 3"X 3" area will help you line up the placement of the 3 individual stamps.

Part 1
At the base of the ledge, park where ever you want along the road. Be sure to observe any local parking regulations.

Walk along the road leading to the top of the ledge until you see a yellow sign with the message "Highway Gate 500 feet." At the sign, site the "V" tree at 210 degrees. Walk 20 paces from this tree in a SSE direction to a cluster of fallen rocks.
Find the largest rock with a tree growing from it. At the SW edge of this rock you will find your treasure hidden close to the spot where time and nature have taken their toll.
(Due to seasonal water damage, this box no longer has a journal, just the stamp.)

Part 2
Continue walking along the road leading to the top of the ledge. About 15 paces before you reach the orange gate, there is a small area with room for a couple of cars to park. From this spot follow the trail heading N. Shortly you will see some red and blue blazes on the trees. Remember this spot! Continue to follow the trail, though a little fainter now, until you come to a brook. Enjoy this tranquil spot.
Hike back to the spot with the red and blue blazes. Follow the blazes until you see the stone "B". Site the "holey" tree at 315 degrees. With the "holey" tree at your back, site a pair of trees, dressed in bark of different colors, at 313 degrees. Beneath the roots is what you seek.

Part 3
Hike back to the road and head back toward your car. Walk along the road until you see a sign, on a tree, inscribed with "Cave Wall/Central Wall." This is a trail taking climbers to the ledge.
Follow this trail until it forks. Follow the right fork until you see a large boulder shaped like one of the suits in a deck of cards. At the very bottom of this "jewel" you will find your hidden treasure.
Use caution in this area because the rocks are loose and partially covered by leaves.

Continue your hike back to your car. Spend some time watching the rock climbers and then drive to the top of the ledge. Enjoy the great views of Mount Washingto Valley from the fenced in viewing area. Be sure to keep a watchful eye on any young children.

I hope you have enjoyed your visit to Cathedral Ledge.
