To get to the Galena Bike Trail, you start on Park Avenue going north. Turn left onto Bouthillier Street and park at the far end of the loop, where the trail begins.

Spring Leaf

Your first stop is the natural spring. Right before the trail turns from gravel to cement, take a left onto a mowed path to the spring. After you have read the sign and admired the spring, take the small footpath around the left of the spring. Pass a vertical slab of concrete and follow the path toward the railroad. Just before you get to the tracks, take a left and take 2 steps past a rock. On your left there is a smallish heap of rocks. Under a flattish rock is the Spring Leaf.

Tiger in the Woods

** This box is missing.**

Head back to the trail and continue onward. You will cross a rushing stream. When you get to the intersection with a yellow post in the middle of the road, take a right. Go past a pond on your left, and past the 1 mile marker. You will come to another yellow post in the middle of the road. From there, a fence is visible farther down the trail. The fence crosses the trail, but doesn't block it. From there, turn around and take 10 steps back the way you came. There is a small nook at the bottom of a large tree to your left. The Tiger Swallowtail is hiding in there, covered with bark and leaves. It is a little bit difficult to get the box in and out, and to do so at all you must turn the box onto its side.

The Robin’s Nest

Go past a rest area and the 2 mile marker. Then, follow the rock ridge on top of the hill. When the ridge ends there will a large boulder on the hilltop. On the other side of the road there is a basswood tree with 3 large trunks and 2 small trunks. Walk 15 paces to that tree, and next to it is a small sapling with a nest in it about 3 ½ feet from the ground. Inside the nest is a single egg, which is your prize. Please be nice to the nest, as it is a real robin’s nest from my backyard, and it is made of nothing but twigs and mud. (Note: we did not steal this nest from the robins. They were done nesting and robins don’t use the same nest twice.)

The Two-Wheeler

Continue on until you reach the end of the trail, at 3.5 miles. Follow the fence line up to the left. Walk until the 5th metal post. Then, head left until you get to an old rotting railroad tie. In the end of the tie farther away from the trail, you’ll find the thing you seek covered with sticks and leaves.
