Welcome to Jose’s Place
This Letterbox is a Hitch Hiker Hostel
It is a safe gathering place for Hitch Hikers
Jose’s place is large and comfortable enough for many travelers, but Jose and 3 Hitch Hikers must remain at the Hostel to keep it going.

RULES of the HOSTEL:
1. If you Take a Hitch Hiker, Leave One & Jose must always remain in the Hostel.
2. If there are more than 3 Hitch Hikers Take One, no leaving required.

Jose’s Place is tucked away in the sandstone bluffs of the Four Corners Town of Farmington, New Mexico. The road that will get you to where you want to be, is Pinon Hills Blvd. From this road you need to turn north onto College Blvd. (watch for the signs going towards Lions Wilderness Park.) Once your are on College Blvd. go past the first large sign with Lions Wilderness Amphitheater and find the street called Sandalwood. Turn right onto Sandalwood and drive until you see the sign that says “Overlook & Rocky Point Shelters” go left into the Overlook Shelter area, (NOTE: park closes at dusk) and find a place to park close to the sign stating that Permit Holders have Priority. The post under this sign will count as #1, go right along the fence line to post #7 and look to your left. There is a small animal trail that leads between two juniper trees with a large sandstone rock between them. Go to the rock and walk around to the open side with bluegreen lichen on it. Stand with your back to this side and take 18 steps forward. To your right will be a dead Juniper tree coming out of the sandstone. Right below the limb of this dead tree is an opening in the rock. Jose has been placed here as the keeper of a Hostel for Hitchhikers. All visitors welcome to log in “Here lies Jose” as a traditional find.

After you find this box, go to the Rocky Point shelter and play a game of disc golf. There is a wonderful 18 hole course in this area.

(Hitchhiker: A letterbox without a home. A hitchhiker is hidden with another letterbox, and the person that finds it is expected to take the hitchhiker to another letterbox.)
