From Highway 11/14 at the Rock/ Walworth County line, go south on County Road “C” 1.2 miles to the Fairfield Grange (N3994), which celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2009, and has now been converted to a private residence. On the south side of the grange, drive the unpaved road east, approximately one- tenth of a mile, parking at the steel gate. (Don't be deterred- though it doesn't appear to be, this is a public access road).
Walk the short manicured trail and enter the old community through the iron gate. Find Katie Wilkins Dugan. With your back to Katie’s back, walk 60 paces at a compass setting of 50 degrees. After reaching the large double- trunked Oak, reset your compass for 330 degrees and walk 15 paces. At the base of the 16- inch diameter tree, you will find your treasure.
Please be respectful of this quiet community and remember to latch the gate behind you when you leave. We’d like the residents to remain where they are.
Please send us a message when you find it. We'd love to hear from you!
