Nature has many faces. Each one intrigues us.
Where do the faces of nature reside?
Everywhere. Look around, you will find them.

The park has many faces.
Reflections off the water. patterns in the earth.
Features of the trees. Ah, yes, the trees.
Many trees await along the shore of the lake.

The paths diverge, around and amidst the lake.
The faces are waiting for you.
There is no time to play; avoid these distractions.
Do not be tempted to take the path of folly.

A leisurely walk through trees and beyond.
Occasional glimpses of water.
Gravel crunching beneath your feet.

Another choice. Do the faces you seek lie on the other side?
There is no need to span the water.
Some may choose this route.
But the faces call to you from the other direction.

This strip of land, an open view
Summer lends lily pads, flowers in bloom.
Ahead the wall of trees looms.

As you enter their lair, a sentry on each side;
The towering trees block the sunlight
Before it can reach down to the path.
You are not deterred, not even by the option
To take time out and enjoy the beauty.
You turn away from the temptation.
For it will not be much farther
To the face you seek.

The water comes into view. You can go no further.
Turn around and re-trace your steps; 7 or so is enough.
Off to the right, the giant remains on vigil,
If only to protect the face that resides here.
Carefully tucked within the crux of its many fingers,
Shielded by a facade of leaves, twigs, and bark
Gently laid in place over the resting spot.
Take care and move the covering aside.
Peer in and you shall view the parcel you seek.

The face is waiting to be seen, only visible to those
Who take the time to stamp the parcel’s image.
A serene place lies just beyond the giant,
A perfect respite place to stop, stamp, and experience
The Faces of Nature.

Take care to replace the box to its location
And cover it with the leaves, twigs and bark.
