This series: Unofficial UTSS (Utah State Symbols) are of things that are common in Utah, yet not an official state symbol.

There is no escape from these in Utah! It’s been reported that Utah has quite a collection of them, compared to other states.

¼ mi. round-trip. Rainbow Trail. Microbox – no log book.

DIRECTIONS: I-15 exit 343 - 12th St. Head east, and before you reach the mouth of the canyon, turn right at Rainbow Gardens. Park at the back, near the trailhead.

CLUES: Take Rainbow Trail, and at the fork, head left toward the Bonneville Shoreline (not Bird Song). There are many small “S” curves, but the trail takes a sharp turn to the left with a gully. Then at the sharp right, go down the side trail and watch uphill on the right for a large flattish white rock about 5 – 6 ft. long. Go up to this rock, and the box is at the uphill end. From this end, facing downhill, the box is at the right tip, under small rocks and debris.

Please be discreet and rehide well
