You will enter Gilbert Run Park, in La Plata, Maryland, and go to the first parking area / pavilion area on the right. You will then enter the trail to the left – near the bottom of the steep hill. You will then take the trail and make a right at the end of the trail onto the walkway (leading to the playground area on the right). Just before you reach the playground area, make a right onto the gravel roadway that goes alongside the lake. Follow gravel roadway and make a sharp right turn just before the turn in the road. You will see a large pine tree there. Continue sharp right past the pine and down the hill. Follow alongside the bottom of the hill until you see some trees and a creek on the left side. Cross the small bridge found among those trees and make a left. Once you make that left, you will follow alongside two sand pits – for volleyball and horseshoes (I believe). Just past the sand pits, you will see a tree with a large base, two trees grown together. This is Lou’s fork, and you will find the box near this tree. Thanks for visiting, and please leave us a note and write about your find!!!
Best wishes.
