THIS LETTERBOX IS NO LONGER THERE- IT IS BEING REPAIRED AND WILL FIND A NEW HOME AT MOWRY SOON. THANK YOU!

***
Deep in the woods
At Mowry Hills
Is a magical spot
That will cure all your ills.

It's a wonderful place
Where fairies play.
Read the clues below
to find the way.

Take care and be gentle
for this is their home.
Because if you are not,
You might meet the Gnome!

This letterbox is hidden next to a very special Fairy House in the woods of the Mowry Conservation Land on Stump Pond in Smithfield, RI (http://www.smithfieldri.com/7scenicwalks.htm). Plan to spend some time picnicing, walking and listening to the bubbling brook that greets you as you begin your hike. This hike is a 1/2 mile long, and in most spots very easy for kids. There are a few hilly spots, but it's really pretty easy.

- Drive to the Mowry Conservation Land on Old Forge Road in Smithfield, RI. Park on the right hand side of the road, across from the main entrance.

- Walk through the main entrance and over to the bridge to your left. After you pass over the bridge you will see you can go left to pick up the beginning of the red trail. This is the trail you want to take.

- Follow the red trail as it meanders through pine forests, over hills and near huge rock outcroppings. After about 10 minutes or so, you will see a large rock on the right- very close to the trail. The rock has a red trail marker on it and a very cool twisty tree growing out of it.

- As you stand next to the rock, look to your right. You will see two trees next to each other. The 2nd tree has a triangle of flatish rocks near its base. Within that triangle is the home of some forest fairies. These fairies keep watch over the letterbox, which is nestled under a rock, behind a wall of pinecones across from the door of the Fairy House.

*Spend some time visiting with the little fairy that lives in the Letterbox- just make sure to put her back. Please make sure to put things back as you found them for the next seekers. Enjoy this beautiful hike! Feel free to email to share your experience! :)
