Your quest begins in Putnam at the intersection of Kennedy Drive and Route 44.
Take Route 44 West, crossing the Quinebaug River at Cargill Falls.
Proceed toward the Hospital for ½ mile.
Turn left on Quinebaug Ave. Quinebaug Ave. becomes River Road when you
cross the Pomfret line.
After exactly 2 miles on Quin/River you will come to a small cemetery on your left.
This appears to be a private burial ground for 2 families.
If you enter the cemetery from the center steps you will find the Dresser family on your left and the Carpenters on the right.

A.,T.,and T. who are only 10, 8, and 5 years old respectively, actually love reading the inscriptions and trying to figure out the ages at death and also how everyone was related.
You will notice that only the front half of the cemetery has been used, which makes
you wonder if both families died out or if they moved away.

When you have paid your respects return to the center stairs.
Facing the cemetery, turn to your right and follow the stone wall to the corner.
Notice the workmanship of this wall. After over 200 years there is still not a stone out of place!
From the corner continue about 8-10 feet ALONG THE EDGE OF THE ROAD, and you will find the “clown”
hiding in an opening on the back side of the wall.

Please be discreet and take the box back to your car to do your stamping.
This concludes our “CIRCUS” series and we hope you have enjoyed finding all 6 boxes. They are in Danielson, Brooklyn and Pomfret.
