This box is to celebrate my 40th birthday through my favorite hobby. The stamp was created by my daughter, Grrr! It is planted in a portion of the 8 mile Vin Gormley Trail which I had decided to take my mountain bike on last year around this same time of year and found a great boxing series. It was part of my 40 things to do in the year before I turn 40. So I thought this would be a good place to plant it. Also the start of this hike is within walking distance of where I live. You will only be on Vin Gormley for about 1.5 miles (round trip is 3 miles).
Warning: Each November there is the Lil Rhody Runaround on this trail so be sure not to do this hike on that day.

To start your adventure, park on Klondike Rd in Charlestown by the Perry Healey Brook. (don't be hindered by the No Parking signs. As long as you don't park overnight, no one will bother you) Take the yellow/blue trail that goes to the right. You will walk over several footbridges, which Grrr! and I love to gallop over. You will reach a really nice covered bridge, a very nice place to have a picnic. Stay on the yellow/blue trail. As you follow along you will see nice stone walls on the right. You will cross over a brook with 2 large metal pipes on either side. When you get to the portion of the trail where yellow continues straight and blue goes to the right. STOP. Take the blue trail for 11 steps (by the way my steps are those of an almost 5 footer). You will see a deer run on the right (next to a large white oak). Take this path about 12 steps off the blue trail to a fallen tree covered in moss. Look between the rock and the fallen tree under leaves and sticks to get what you came for. Please rehide well.
To return to your car you have 2 options:
1 - go back the way you came
2 - (I prefer this option) continue on the blue trail which leads through Burlingame Campground and more footbridges. You will come out onto Klondike Rd and then continue up the road about 3/4 mile to your car. If you decide to take this route you may want to check out some other boxes that we have found in the past along this trail.
