~My little girl has been hiking and letterboxing for another year already. Here are the clues to her newest box.
Make your way to the new Zemko Sawmill Preserve on Rattlesnake Ledge Road in Salem. This is almost directly across from the dump.
Pull in and park out of the way of the "gate"
You will need black ink for this image.
Walk in on the wide road. You will pass a huge pile of leftover sawdust that is sitting right next to where the sawmill was. When this property was acquired by the town, the owner agreed to remove the remnants of the sawmill.
Just beyond this you will see the beginning of the red trail heading uphill.
Walk along this trail and enjoy the wonderful ledges, great rocks, babbling brooks and the wildlife that there is to see.
You will eventually come to the "end of the trail".
Stop here and turn around. Go back the way you came ~80 steps. You should see a large stump on your right and on your left you will see some rock "steps" up the hill.
Go left up these steps.
At the top, go a little bit more and come to a VW Bug sized rock on your right.
Look under the overhang, beneath rocks and leaves, to find where Baby D is celebrating her 7th birthday.
Replace and cover naturally when you are done please.
