Sam Houston Jones SP is located twelve miles north of Lake Charles. From I10, exit on Hwy 171 and go north for 5 miles. Turn left on LA 378, then right on Spur 378 for 1 mile, then left again on Sutherland Road for .3 mile to entrance fee station.

Enter the park, pay the fee, and get a map. The box is on the orange trail. On the map, you are looking for the trail head nearest the benches on the trail.

After paying the fee, go left and pass the bathrooms and camping are on the left. Stop at the picnic area at the next curve. You should see the trail head here.

Hike down the Orange trail. Pass the first bench (on left) and the labeled Southern Magnolia (on right). Stop when you get to the next bench (on your right).

Sit on the bench facing the water and look to your right. You will see a tree with two long logs beside it. The logs are pointing to another tree.

The turtle is between the tree closest to you and the top log.
Please rehide well and let me know the status of this box.
