This is an addition to the Fantasy Zoo created by Flutterwings at Mashmoquet State Park off Rt. 44 in Pomfret.
From the entrance to the Park, drive .4 of a mile to a parking area just beyond the pond.
Pudgy the Pig has escaped from his pen at the fantasy zoo. He immediately heads for the snack shack over in front of the river. Just as he gets there he sees two hikers leaving the shach with sandwiches. They are heading upriver. Pudgy follows hoping the hikers will drop their lunch. The hikers cross the brdge over the river and then head for the hiking trails. The trail goes up, and up, passing a "Trail" sign. Huffing and puffing, Pudgy follows, but he is getting tired. He loses sight of the hikers.
Finally he reaches the top of the hill. There is a trail map here. He pauses, sniffing the air, and decides the hikers went on the blue trail towrds the south (about 200 degrees from the trail map. After a short walk he sees a tree with a large lump (bole?) on the right side of the trail. Directly behind this tree is a large tree on the slope. Pudgy sees the lunch the hikers dropped just behind this tree. Here you will find the runaway pig. Be careful, this is a steep hill.
Return the way you came. If you haven't already, look for Jeffery Giraffe back near the parking lot.
This is a short but invigorating walk, and should only take about 30 minutes including stamping time.
