We decided to do our holiday decorating, a little late, while searching for a couple of other boxes in the Uplands Preserve in Canton. It was a beautiful day with not too much snow on the ground and not too cold or windy. One of the boxes we were searching for was frozen in tho' so we will be back. To get to the preserve from the Rts 44 and 202 split, take Rt. 179 north. Turn right on High Valley Dr and then right on Westwood. Park in the cul de sac. The trail is to the right side. This time of year it's behind a big pile of snow but you can climb over at the end.
From the other clues it seems it's a good idea to bring bug spray at other times of the year. They also say the trail is about a mile.

Clues: Go a short way into the woods to where the trail splits. You will be following the orangish ribbons around a loop trail. They are sometimes far apart but you should be able to spot them the whole way. At the split stay straight.

Now keep an eye out for a very neat looking big downed tree on the left running along and partially on top of a wall. From the break in the big part of the tree go right to where another parallel branch runs on your side of the big one making a triangular opening between the branches. Look between the rocks in the space covered by bark for Trim the Tree. Cover well when you're done. We had trouble finding material to cover it with since everything was covered with snow so you can probably do a better job than we did if you get there after a thaw.

Now continue on the trail the way you were going. At the next intersection, go right. You will cross a small stream and then come to an opening in a stone wall.

At the stone wall opening look right to where the limb is on top of the stones parallel to the path and pointing to the tree with the ribbon. Between the branch and the rocks you will find Deck the Halls.

There are at least two other boxes in the next section of the trail. But the trail is a loop anyway so continue on. You will eventually come to No Trespassing signs on your left and signs of civilization. Just keep them on your left and keep looking for the ribbons to get back to your car.
