Rock and Rose Letterbox
In this part of town, life is just a bowl of roses. Ah, but there’s no water in that bowl for our rose! Perhaps if we follow the dry riverbed just a little further south...There, some nice, big bowls of blue water, just before the hills begin.
Go behind them. There is a tall white sign telling about the city trails project. Look at the nice, steep, oak covered hill! All around you see remnants of beautiful old stonework from the Arts and Crafts period. Look to the right: there is a series of steps that lead past an old stone circle. Go up the steps and around the curve as the trail continues to rise. There are low stone walls on either side of your path. The one on the left eventually joins with another low wall in a “v” shape. Snuggled between the low walls near the apex is a large yellowish rock. And a Rose.
Please seal the bags carefully and cover with leaves before replacing the large stone on top, and leave the grass looking undisturbed. This trail is used as a shortcut by people who work below, so please be stealthy.
Thanks for visiting!
