On route 168 where Phelps Road intersects, look for the blue oval sign for the Metacomet Trail. There are also two signs for the Alcorn Preserve and plenty of parking along the side of the road.
This box made it’s debut at a gathering recently and was named Luck of the Irish, which didn’t seem appropriate for this trail. Plan on a four mile round trip.
Once a long time ago I took a hike with friends on the Metacomet Trail, hoping to walk into Massachusetts but we got lost and turned back. Today I conned Gizz into the same adventure but this time we got turned back at the end of the line.
From the Alcorn Preserve sign take the blue trail to the left for two miles, coming to a tree with blue horizontal blazes indicating the end of the trail. With your back to this tree look rightish for a two sister. Look at the base of one of them, under bark.
