The Howard County Conservancy is a non profit environmental education center. Trails are open dawn to dusk daily, building and nature center have hours posted on the website www.hcconservancy.org
Start at the trail head near the bank barn (to the right of the main education building, next to the dumpsters). Go down the hill. At the kiosk turn right on the tuilp poplar trail. Keep going until you see the Hodge Podge Lodge (a mini house). Go over the bridge to the center. Take 26 steps and turn left on a trail that goes into the woods. Stay on this trail, you will pass signposts with numbers 5 and 6. Keep going to just before the intersection with the main (mowed grass) trail. Take about 6 steps off the little trail, the box is hidden in a tree to the left of the tree with three trunks.
This is a great hike with kids, not too long. Hodgepodge Lodge has kids activities in it, you can get the combination to the door from Conservancy staff if you visit during building open hours.
The Conservancy is a non profit, they welcome donations!
