Mayfield Park and Preserve is an island of restful respite located in the middle of Austin, Texas. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, this estate was presented to the city of Austin in 1971 by Mary Mayfield Gutsch for all Austinites to enjoy as a park. It includes 2 acres of colorful cottage gardens with towering palm trees, brilliant peacocks and delicate water lilies, all blending in beautiful harmony, as well as 21 acres of nature preserve, walking trails and wildlife habitat.
Find yourself at Mayfield Park In Austin. Walk through the gardens of the cottage past the ponds to the back gate. The gate has always been locked everytime I'm here but the rock wall is very low and easy to step over. Left of the gate is a tree growing out of the wall. At the base of the tree is a small cave where this peacock is hidding under a SPOR.
