What happens in four decades? Do you think you know?
A person celebrates a birthday – called the Big 4 – O!
This year, on January 18th, two thousand and ten
Martin Luther King Jr. Day rolled around again.
To celebrate Doug’s Birthday on this holiday,
We ventured to Galena from a Sunday through Monday.
The guys went skiing down Chestnut hills.
The gals enjoyed shopping ‘til they had their fill.
To commemorate this special year,
We made a stamp for our man so dear.
It’s a golf ball, driver and a tee…
Since our guy likes to golf even more than he likes to ski!
It’s hidden in a special place with clues to be disclosed
In Galena, IL on Doug’s Birthday, the Big 4 – O!

Clues:

When you're in Galena, IL ~ turn South on Blackjack Road. Drive about 8.5 miles to Chestnut Mountain Ski Resort. You will see a red sign with the Chestnut Mountain logo. Turn right, here, on Rocky Hill Road and on the side of the road, park after you pull ahead a few car lengths since there are times when lots of vehicles turn this corner on route to the ski slopes.

Carefully, cross the street and walk back toward the Chestnut Mountain sign. You will notice a large bush right below the sign with a light directly behind this evergreen shrub. Just behind this light, you will notice a smaller evergreen bush. Underneath this small bush, you will find "The Big 4 - O." Please stamp, seal tightly, and rehide.

Thanks for sharing your stamp with us in our log book! While you're this far, you may want to proceed down Rocky Hill Road and spend the day skiing if the slopes are open. Chestnut also has an Alpine Slide that runs during non-ski season. You can google Chestnut Mountain to check out times of operation.
