Directions: From Willimantic, CT take Rt. 14 from Rt. 66, (by Tony’s Pizza). Follow signs staying on Rt. 14, travel 4.7 mi. to Bass Rd. on right. Follow Bass Rd. to the “T” intersection and turn left, that’s still Bass Rd., Go 0.3 mi. to the entrance of the Talbot Wildlife Area at the gravel road on the right opposite a cemetery on the left. There is parking before a steel gate as soon as you turn in.

From Gate: Walk down dirt road, you’ll see old electric line poles on the right. An old fallen down chicken coop on the left. Further up, you’ll see an old garage/house on the right on a bend with an old foundation next to it. Follow the bend. Come to a small stream that you can cross on beams off to the left. At the intersection go left through an open field, then stay straight at the next turn...cross a stream with rocks. At the Y go right (uphill) and again at the next Y go right (uphill). When the trail finally levels off you might notice an open area in the distance to the right. This is a farmer’s field and today he was out there spreading manure (lovely). You may have noticed an assortment of scraggly stonewalls along the way up but now there should be a longer one following you on the right. Watch for a smallish rock trail side left with a tree (some kind of birch?) growing out of the backside. From here go 75 steps to a faint trail crossing your path and from here go 75 steps to two small rocks and a small boulder trail side left. Beyond them (75 feet off trail) is a fallen branch (today it looks like a brush pile). Look for your mail near the broken end of the branch.

This box is extra large and will hold a H.H.

Hunting is allowed here so wear blaze orange or wait for a Sun. to hunt this box. Many thanks to Flutterby for her contribution.
