~We came across a wonderful little preserve in Ashford that was the perfect place for Casper to make his home.

Dogs are allowed on leash.

You will need ink for this box. Black will do nicely.

Make your way to the Iron Mine Valley Preserve on Sand Hill Road. This will be a right turn off of route 89 if you are heading North. It is a very sharp turn.

After parking, walk along the wide path next to the wooden signboard and soon you will be heading downhill with yellow blazes guiding you.

After a bit you will come to a spot where you need to decided which way to go on the loop trail, go left (the yellow arrow indicating the trail may be a bit hidden by brush).

Keep walking and you will come to a sign stating there is a Side Trail to your left. It is a nice, short little walk to the Mount Hope River. Well worth the few minutes it will take.

For the box though, you will need to go right, uphill, with yellow. After just a few steps you will come to a snag alongside the trail that is next to a multi split rock.

STOP here.

Turn right and go approximately 20 steps uphill to rocks at the base of a skinny tree.

Look behind the trap door for Casper.

After re-hiding him well, continue on yellow in the direction you were heading. You will eventually come to the tree that had the loop trail signs on it. Go left here and continue on back to where you parked.

We had a wonderful walk here in the snow. I hope you do the same.
