Letterboxing is a fun way to explore Acer griseum at the Arnold Arboretum. This walk will take you to a multi-trunked tree with beautiful bark.

To find the letterbox, follow these directions:
Start at the Visitor Center at 125 Arborway, Jamaica Plain MA.
Go to the intersection of Bussey Hill and Valley Roads.
You will find a map of the Arboretum on your right, from here you will go off the paved road.
Walk due north (toward the old farm house) 23 paces to the
Viburnum rhytidophyllum (leatherleaf viburnum) with accession number 133-67 A.
Make a slight right and continue 40 paces to the Viburnum sieboldii with accession number 616-6 B, you will pass a large Platunus x acerifolia (London planetree) on the right.
Continue another 30 paces to the Betula maximowicziana (monarch birch) with a trunk label. Turn left and go straight toward the Acer griseum.
You will find the letterbox between the trunks. Follow the directions inside the box. And return everything just as you found it.
