So when I was a little girl I had an imaginary friend. Yeah Yeah you laugh that is fine I don’t care I know I am special. The great thing about my friend is that she was always in my back yard whenever I wanted to play with her. She was so soft, so pretty, and so beautiful. Then one day she was gone. Left in her place was just a little pile of dirt. Gosh that sucked. Are you crying and feeling sympathetic for me yet? No? Okay hold on it gets better…

So my dreams lately were haunted with memories of my lost friend, and remorse for the fact that I never got to say good-bye. And my dreams were so vivid – it was really bizarre… let me tell you what happened.

I was at Starbucks. You know the one on the corner of Salamo Rd. in West Linn. I was drinking an iced vanilla latte when suddenly I heard her voice! I just had to follow it. So I went to the cross walk at the corner and crossed the street and started walking downhill in the direction her voice was coming from. I walked all the way until I got to a sign that said “My backyard.” They grew really pretty flowers there. If you ever visit you might want to get some. But you know it was not my back yard, and something told me that my friend was not there and that I had gone a little too far, so I started to head back when I heard her voice again!

I got to the top of the hill I was now treading up, and boy it was hot so that uphill walk was a real pain in the butt, but I got to the top and there was a street sign that said something about the weather. I took a left and started walking up this little sidewalk that took me between trees and apartment buildings. There was a wooden fence on my left. Suddenly I heard her call my name again … “pandora … pandora… pandora…” (If you say it three times it works kind of like “beetlejuice” and helps you find things) Then I found myself in a nice little shady spot. Just a little bit ahead on the path another wooden fence appeared on my right but it went in a different direction than the one I had been walking beside. I was standing at the base of the tree and I heard it again. “pandora…pandora…pandora.” Right at the edge of the sidewalk sort of near the base of the tree there was a large rock that had a crack in it. It seemed like her voice was coming from there. So I picked up the rock and looked underneath it. I found lots of ants, lots of little bugs, and since I don’t like bugs too much I thought that was a mean place for my friend to hide, but there she was, smiling and looking as beautiful as ever. I took her picture (image) and then started to head back.

This is about the time that I woke up and realized it was all a dream and I was still a grown up and my imaginary friend was still gone. Funny thing though I think I must have been sleep walking because I remembered something about my back yard and realized I was outside standing in my backyard … now I just had to remember which one of those apartments was mine!

Happy Hunting
