Difficulty:
Easy walk of a couple of hundred yards or a bike ride of variable length if you are riding the bike path.

Driving directions:
To park a short walk from the box:
Park at Brooks Park just off of Oak Street a few hundred feet from Route 28 near the center of Harwich.

To ride the Cape Cod Rail Trail:
There are a variety of places to park the car and take to the bike, skates, feet, wheelchair, scooter, etc. We usually park at Nickerson State Park. This is about the midpoint of the (now) approximately 25 mile long CCRT. If the lot here next to park entrance is full, there is an overflow lot a short distance south, in fact there is a bike rental place there.
Another good place to park is at what is (as of this writing) the north end of the CCRT in Wellfleet. This lot is just off Rt 6 at the start of LeCount Hollow Road which is just after Rt 6 crosses Blackfish Creek. The southern terminus of the CCRT is currently at Rt. 134 in Dennis. That’s about 11 miles or so south of Nickerson on the path. There are lots of other parking places at points where roads cross the CCRT.

Background:
This box is located on a branch of the Cape Cod Rail Trail which is now completed from a bike path rotary a few miles from the Dennis end of the path to the Harwich/Chatham town line. Hopefully this will be continued into Chatham in the near future.

Directions to the box:
From tennis courts at Brooks Park turn right ( East) on the bike path and after four or five tenths of a mile look for a paved side path to the left (North) which leads under the power lines to some playing fields. Two tenths of a mile farther along the path crosses over Rt. 39. At the beginning of the paved side path follow the fence to the third post and look about three feet behind the post on the ground under some bayberry branches. The box has a green cover.
From the rotary with the main bike path take the Harwich/Chatham branch to Brooks Park.
