This letterbox is planted on the grounds of The National Yiddish Book Center located on the campus of Hampshire College in Amherst, MA. If you enter from the Bay Road entrance of Hampshire College, the Eric Carle Museum will be on your right. Turn right at the intersection. The Center is the second parking lot on your right. Or from the Route 116 entrance, go to the first stop sign and turn left. The Center is on the left.

As you approach the center bus stop kiosk, look for the trail to the Great Oak Park. Follow past the old big oak tree to the Yiddish Writers Garden. Continue down the stone steps toward the Schepps Picnic Grove. Cross the open field and pass the apple trees. As you walk to the entrance of the pine forest look for a sign that says “picnic grove”.

Walk 2 steps to the right of the picnic grove sign. Turn left and you will be facing a straight row of pine trees. Follow this line of trees until the tenth tree. In front of you will be a fallen tree. Follow it towards its stump. From the stump, take 5 steps in the same direction you were traveling. The kitties are playing in the rock pile.
