This box is for my son, it represents something I am hoping he will be cooperative with, and soon.

Directions to Starting Location: From the intersection of MA 9 and MA 116 in Amherst, head east on MA 9 (College St) to the next traffic light . Take a right onto South East St. Drive 1.5 miles and take a right onto Valley View Drive. Go straight at the intersection with Valley View Circle, and park in the cul de sac near the “Mt. Castor Marsh Conservation Area” sign.

Behind the sign is a path leading into the woods. Almost immediately there will be a series of bog bridges. Continue straight on the bridges to follow the yellow trail. Continue following the yellow trail, on and off the bridges until you reach a “T”. (The right hand side of the “T” goes to a large field, the left side of the “T” is more of the yellow trail where it will soon intersect with the blue trail.)

From this “T”, turn around and go back 10 steps. On your right will be a four-sister tree. The box is in this tree, on the back-side from where you are, in a groove that is about chest-high. It is covered with a piece of dead wood.

Roughly 1 mile round trip. Great for kids, but I would imagine it gets very buggy in spring and summer.
