This box is for weary travelers who need to stop and stretch their legs. It is located along I-10 east of Desert Center. From I-10, take exit 201 and go a very short distance south on Corn Springs Road. Turn left (east) on the paved frontage road. Drive for about a half mile or so and turn right (south) on the dirt Corn Springs Road. Just after making the turn, park by the white BLM information kiosk on the right side of the road.
From the west post of the kiosk, go at about 248 degrees (from mag. north) for about 54 steps to a small Ironwood Tree with a small Creosote Bush on its northeast side. (The metal kiosk deflects a compass needle a little; so, you need to stand several yards away from it when using your compass!). The box is under the tree under a single large rock covered with some twigs and plant debris.
Please please be sure the contents are double ziplocked when you put them back in the box (i.e. the stamp is in a ziploc, the book is in a ziploc, and the two are in the larger ziploc bag), and put all of it INSIDE the box. Please rehide the box well under the one rock covered with some twigs so that it can not be seen from any direction.
