Lane’s Mine Nature Park is located in Monroe CT. Its Main parking area (which accommodates about four cars) is located just off Fan Hill Road.

Boxes have no ink-please bring your own. This is a two part stamp finding both will create one picture please follow the arrows on the stamps to place them

Clues to find ME:

For eons I have been providing you with a beautiful place to hike and live. My weather may vary from place to place, I may be temperamental some days but, it is after all hard to maintain my existence with so many inhabitants. I thank all the letterboxes who leave no trace and help to conserve my good looks.

For this I offer you a gift tucked nicely in the woods. If you park at the entrance to Lane’s Mine and begin up the main yellow trail, I am only a little ways off. Follow up hill to a 3 sister tree on your right, unfortunately two have cracked and fallen to the ground.

Shortly thereafter a four sister tree on your left will be. Make your way to this tree. (And to your left you will hear a road) Spot between this tree and the road two large rocks sticking out of the ground with a parallel split between them, in which a small tree grows.

I will be waiting for you here, located behind these large rocks. I am buried beneath a pile of small rocks which is tucked up against the tree.

If you continue on along the main path you will find my good friend ED

Thank you for finding me-Mother Earth

Clues to find ED:

Although not as old as good Mother Earth, I try to help you out as much as I can. I teach new generation to care for our planet and help ensure plenty of eons to come. It was so nice of Mother earth to invite me along and thank all those who support and maintain all the parks we love so.

For this I offer you a gift tucked nicely in the woods. If you continue from finding my good friend you will begin to pass a stone wall to your left running behind some houses.

This wall will soon break as parts of it have fallen and crumbled. When it starts back up you should see a small stream bed, now more of a marshy area to your right.

Continue until this wall meets another that crosses your path. Step thru the opening but follow the main trail no longer.

Turn right and walk along side the wall (it should be on you right). Go until the largest tree that has fallen onto the wall rest. This tree has been leaning here for over a decade and is a darker orange/rust color.

Here where a smaller downed tree edges along the wall which is “Y” shaped, is where you will look. At the top of the wall find moss speckled stones, I am tucked within them.

You can continue to spend you day and enjoy this great air or head back to your car the way you came.

Thank you for finding me-Earth Day

Personal note:
*This is a 75 acre area which is maintained by the Monroe Conservation Comm. It is not a very high traffic park and has only one main path which is blazed with yellow. It’s a rather easy walk, although you are moving steadily uphill.

*Both boxes can be found round trip in 20-30 minutes.

Enjoy-may the faerie dust lighten your day!
