Louisiana, admitted into the Union on April 30, 1812, themed the coin, Louisiana Purchase. Highlighted on the coin are an image of the pelican - Louisiana's state bird - a trumpet with musical notes, and the outline of the Louisiana Purchase territory. The coin is inscribed: Louisiana Purchase; Louisiana; 1812; 2002; and E Pluribus Unum.

The box is on the Red River Trail through Veterans Park.
The walk is almost 0.75 mile round trip.

DIRECTIONS: From I-20 take exit 19A – Market St., merging onto LA-1. Take the curve left on Spring St. Turn left on Stoner Ave. After the Clyde Fant Parkway, the park will be on the left. This parking lot is at the skateboard ramp.

CLUE: Take the trail along the Red River heading northwest (keeping the river on your right). On the trail will be markers for 2 mile, and 1 ¾ mile. After this point, watch on the right for a large indentation in the ground, and a culvert under the trail. Walk on the trail about 40 more steps watching on the right for a tree along the river with a patch of bark missing at the base. From this trees there is a tall building with a “V” shape, and the tree is in line with the “V”. The small black pouch is around the back of this tree, stuck in a crack formed by vines, about 3-4 ft. from the ground.

PLEASE ZIP THE POUCH AND ALL BAGS. Be discreet. This is a very busy trail.
