Dollar Days of Spring Letterbox - placed on March 31, 2010 by thelittlechildren

We placed this stamp on a bright spring day on the grounds of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church and Emmanuel Day school. This spot is very special to us and many others so we ask you to please be respectful of their beautiful grounds and gardens. We hope you enjoy the search…don’t forget to stop and smell the roses!

Start off by driving or walking to the Emmanuel Episcopal Church on Mercer Island, also the location of Emmanuel Day School. Park or walk to the south end parking lot located next to the playground.

Walk north up the path next to the playgrounds. Stop and let the kiddos play or if you are too excited to find our box then proceed on to the next clue.

Once you get to the playground, face the building. You will see two doors that would lead you into the Emmanuel Day School. Don’t go in the building but turn left and walk down a the short flight of steps.

Continue to walk north up the path which will lead you past the old church bell, located on your right. Once you reach the church follow the path around and down the ramp to the front of the church. You will notice that the path will lead you further. Continue on the path north.

Still on the path, turn right onto a gravel path located right before the big stone memorial. Follow the gravel path around and past the monk sculpture holding a bird and past the bench in memory of Frank S.

Once you pass the second bench you will come to a “T” in the path, take a right at the “T”. It will lead you down to a set of steps. Before you reach the steps turn left on the path and go up a another set of steps, which will lead you to a parking lot. Watch for cars!

Once in the parking lot, head south back towards the playground. You will pass the ramp, which will lead you back to the church. Once you pass the ramp look to your left.

You will see a fence and a series of trees. Find the cherry blossom tree with a big root coming from out of the bottom. Hint - This tree is very close to where the fence begins. Walk around to the back side of the tree and dig around. You will find a treasure waiting for you! Enjoy and please remember to return the letterbox back in it’s originally spot and hide it well!
