Status of Letterbox: Alive, but damaged (log book ruined) on 11/15/08. Hope to replace log soon.
"The Hunder" letterbox can be found in Burroughs Park, near Tomball, Texas. This day use county park offers ball fields, hike and bike trail, picnic facilities, and a catch-and-release fishing lake.
Direction:
From Tomball, go east on Hwy 2920 for a few miles to Huffsmith Kohrville Rd (FM 2978 north), and turn left. Go 1.7 miles to West Huffsmith Rd and turn right. Go 1.3 miles to Burroughs Park entrance on the left. Turn in, and stay on main road for 1.1 miles to the back of the park (past ball fields and lake). At the end, circle around the loop and park near the trail board on the right side (northwest side of parking area).
To The Letterbox:
Starting at the trail board, go north on the trail that goes along the vollyball pits on your right. You will pass a small trail on your right in about 200 yards. Continue north on main trail. Soon you will pass a wooden bench on your right. Keep going. Next the trail splits, so go right. Continue to the next trail junction (pipeline). Cross over the pipeline bed, and go east on the small trail into the woods for 135 paces. This will put you beside a log on your left side, which runs along the trail. The box is about 3 yards from the west end of the log, tucked inside the middle cavity and hidden by two large sticks. Return the way you came.
