Find the Los Angeles County Park called Devil’s Punchbowl. It is in the high desert east of Palmdale/Lancaster. There are a few nice hikes there: one very short 1/3 mile loop, one medium 1.2 mile loop hike which takes you down to the stream and alongside huge boulders and back up; and the last is about a 4 hour hike with great elevation gain. There are picnic benches and a Visitors’ Center with live animals including snakes and owls. The Ranger was very helpful, too.
For more information see: http://www.devils-punchbowl.com/

To find the letterbox you’ll need to get to the amphitheater. When you drive into the parking lot, park on the left hand side. There are steps in front of the 6th parking stall away from the Visitors’ Center. Take the steps down and sit on the last row of benches in the center section. Look forward toward the stage. You’ll see a tall pine tree straight ahead in line with the light post behind the stage. The letterbox is resting directly on the tree trunk on the side facing away from the stage. It is under a few large rocks.

Please be sure to replace all the contents and re-place the “box.” We would appreciate you sending us a note letting us know you found it. Thank you.
