Bring clues for Campfire Time and Chippy

I used to camp here as a Girl Scout many, many years ago and have just started coming back here the past 5 years. This is a very nice peaceful get away when you camp along the river. If the water is high in the river you can hardly tell any one else is around!

Directions: Take Route 2 East or West to the Mohawk Trail State Forest entrance. There is camping here if you're interested.

After parking get a map of the park. You want to follow the main road just about all the way down. You will pass the road to the group campsite and cabins on your right and then many campsites on your left. You will come to where the road will go downhill and turn to the left. At this point look to your right and you will see a trail sign for Indian Lookout. Go up this trail. When you see the blue and yellow markers on a large tree the trail turns uphill to the right. DON'T go up there, at least not for the boxes! You can hike this later if you'd like! You want to stay straight on the path, it is not marked but you will see the river on your left down below. At one point the trail fades a bit and seems to split, you can go either way. After this watch for a rock in front of you with a fallen tree top to your left. "X" marks the rock. Stand at the rock and look ahead. You will see a Birch and a Hemlock with thier roots entwined. Just to the right there is a rock jutting from the ground. Keep looking to the right a little more and you will see 2 more Hemlocks about 4-5 feet apart. You will find the first box here.

Turn around and head back the way you came, the river is now on your right. After the path splits and comes together again you will see 3 rocks side by side across the trail, then a much larger flatter rock in the trail. About 20 feet farther up the trail look to your right and see a large dead birch on the ground with one end stuck in a sister tree. Follow the path about another 25 feet and turn to the right and walk towards the river. This will bring you to where the sister tree is now on your right. The second box is between you and the sister tree.

Follow the path back out to the road and you can now look for Campfire Time if you'd like!
