Our family holds many fond memories of the time we spent and continue to spend on the Swiss Valley Nature trails. We have hiked with our children from infant on in this area no matter what season. For this reason, we chose to hide our very first letterbox at this location.
Here are the clues:
Park at the Swiss Valley Nature Center located on Swiss Valley Road in Dubuque County. When facing the Nature Center, head left toward the end of the parking lot and take the Forest Ecology Trail. While walking on this trail, you will cross several bridges and pass many benches. You can sit, relax, and enjoy the sounds of nature! As you approach a bridge with the marker #7, you will see on your right a very large fallen tree that has fallen over the creek bed. On the opposite side of the tree at the base, reach deeply into the crevasse and you will find “Swiss Valley” covered with tree matter.
