Sebastian Stormwater Park
Park hours are sunrise to sunset
Driving Directions: From I95 get off at the Fellsmere/Sebastian Exit and go east about 4 miles to South Easy Street. Turn right proceed about 1.5 miles and turn right onto Englar. The park entrance is quickly on your left. (There are a number of entrances but the clues are mapped out from this one) This is a 166-acre wooded parcel with a series of ponds, and wetlands that collect and filter water pumped from nearby Collier Canal, which collects storm run-off from Sebastian Highlands.

There is a parking area with informational signs. As you pass through the gate and forge straight ahead. The structures you see are discharge boxes which direct overflow water into the separate ponds for treatment. Continue forward.
There are spoil piles of dirt on the left overgrown with grasses were the American Kestrel feeds and the Gopher tortoise live. Hike or bike on and you will see wetlands to the left which accommodate silver and red maple and bald cypress trees. Continue on and you will come to the discharge of treated Stormwater area and the first box is hidden here.

You can carry on down this chosen path until you see a gate entry from the neighborhood. There you need to bear to the left. When you see the lake, bear to the left around it when you walk down the path that is canopied by trees, you will come to another lake. Veer right and you will see a spot to rest and a small catwalk that overlooks the water. The second box is under this.

This is your clue for box number two. With this one found you can continue around and veer back out to the left. This will take you to a number of paths that eventually lead to the way from whence you came. OR you can go left but stay to the right and this you will see will take you box number three. You will cross a weeping weir to get to yet another lake and THEN to the lake that was the first and now it is the last as you look for a very special oak tree on the far side. It has two markings that will catch your eye. One is a railroad tie at the bottom and a knot that looks like the letter C. This will bring you to box number 3 and back to the beginning. Happy hunting!
