Veeh Ranch Park
Laguna Hills, CA
Located near the corner of Lake Forest Dr. and Santa Vittoria. Head south on Santa Vittoria and the park will be on the left before you head uphill. Park your car along Santa Vittoria to access the park.
This is one of our favorite parks in Orange County. Our kids love playing at the park and playing in nature. There is a “natural” creek nearby which is one of the few creeks not cemented in Southern California and there is a view of undeveloped hills nearby. Lots of trees provide habitats for a variety of birds. Red tailed hawks, black phoebes, bluebirds, finches, orioles, and snowy egrets are seen here frequently. There is a large field for various sports, a basketball hoop, picnic tables, and playground equipment to enjoy. We hope you enjoy the park and letterboxing.
Make your way through the park to look for the answers to the questions below. Then use your answers to fill in the blanks below.
1. Find the sign that says “Veeh Ranch Park.” On the back of this sign, find the length of leash a dog must be kept on and divide this number by 2.
2. Find the pole with a sign that reads “Dog Waste.” What is located on the pole under the sign?
3. In the playground, find the polar sundial. The AM side of the sign is pointing toward which direction on the compass? (East or West)
4. Find the sign in the playground that says “Watch Me Grow.” The bee at the top is on which side of the sign? (Right or Left)
5. Find all the picnic tables near the playground. Are there 4 picnic tables around this playground? (Yes or No)
6. What color are the slides at this park?
7. Find the sign in the playground that says “Watch Me Grow.” The large hand at the top of the sign is on which side? (Right or Left)
Now use the answers to the questions above to fill in the blanks below.
Leave the playground and head (3.)__________ on the sidewalk. At the drinking fountain, should you take the path to the right? (5.)__________! At the (6.)__________ (2.)__________ turn (4.)__________ through the bushes. Follow the ivy covered wall to the (7.)__________. Turn (4.)__________ at the corner of the ivy covered wall. Walk (1.)__________ steps forward. The ivy at the bottom of the wall facing (3.)__________ conceals the hidden box.
*Please note: When the letterbox was placed, there were several pieces of broken glass on the ground. The planters cleared away all the broken glass they could find, but there could be some pieces that they missed. So as always, use caution.
